Ferris wheel

This is the photograph that re-ignited my interest in photography in 2006. It was taken in Plymouth and I liked it, but I couldn't work out why. A month later I read Digital Camera Magazine's guide to composition, and it all fell into place (the picture, not the Ferris wheel).

One idea is to take the viewer on a journey around or through a photograph, to keep their attention by using lines. And what better way than to go round in a circle, or to be more precise (and probably more interesting), in an ellipse?
