Stay away from the light

Borrowing a quote from the 1982 film Poltergeist for the title, I took this photograph at the Dunorlan Park fireworks in November 2010.

Before the fireworks started, there were bright white lights so that people could find their way around and avoid walking straight into the boating lake at the bottom of the hill.

The effect of moving so that the tree was in line with the light reminded me of a scene from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial where initial views of the space ship are obscured by trees and a scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind where the people are watching the aliens land.

The girl in red adds an element of colour and was probably lit by someone else's camera flash or torch.
