The Photo Friday theme for 23 July 2010 was Sky High, so it seemed appropriate to use this photograph I took on the flight to northern Cyprus. I had taken photographs of view of mountains and clouds outside, but I prefer this photograph of the window itself.

During a tour of  Ightham Mote, I was shown where Ann East etched her name in 1791. My camera couldn’t focus on the glass, so I had to use manual focus instead.

If you’ve got a digital camera, it’s a good idea to keep it away from heat, sand and water. Balos Lagoon in Crete has all three.

The lagoon was so shallow I could stand in the middle of it to take this photograph. I don’t have a waterproof cover for my camera, so as I lowered the camera towards the water I had to be careful not to get it wet.

Sweetwater Beach in Crete can only be accessed by boat or by foot, and it’s a long walk in the heat.

I noticed these two people in Sherborne Lane in London as I walked along King William Street although it was the mix of light and shade that appealed to me.

I had neither the time nor courage to take more than one photograph. Instead I used the computer to convert it to black and white and adjusted the levels so that the person on the left almost disappeared into the shadows.

The title is from the track “Crystal Clear” by Mike Oldfield and the photograph is of a giant bubble created by a family on Primrose Hill in London.

I took this photograph in the early evening near Pepenbury at Pembury shortly before taking the photograph used in Driving home. I had cycled the route before, so I knew that it would be worth taking my camera with me the next time I cycled there.

The Moon was a small and bright distraction in the original photograph, so it was quietly removed for the final version.

The A21 may not be one of the most interesting roads in the UK, but I like the perspective from this bridge that crosses it near Pembury.

I took the photograph in the evening and used a posterise filter to reduce the number of colours.

Jogging around the Cancer Research UK Race for Life course in Tunbridge Wells were these two Power Rangers. It’s nice to see that when they’re not combating evil, they’re able to do something for charity.

In the original photograph the two people were further apart and so with a little help from the computer, I moved them closer together.

Walking near Chinatown in New York, I saw this policeman directing traffic and so I crossed a street to get a better view of them at work. The background was just a bit of good luck.
