Jogging around the Cancer Research UK Race for Life course in Tunbridge Wells were these two Power Rangers. It’s nice to see that when they’re not combating evil, they’re able to do something for charity.

In the original photograph the two people were further apart and so with a little help from the computer, I moved them closer together.

Attracting police attention

Walking near Chinatown in New York, I saw this policeman directing traffic and so I crossed a street to get a better view of them at work. The background was just a bit of good luck.

Lost sign

Near the entrance to the London Underground station in Baker Street is this “lost property” sign. Or at least, this is where it used to be.

Missing: cat

An eye for an ‘i’

Proofreading your own words is an almost impossible task. You simply read what you thought you’d written rather than what you have written.

But it must be even more difficult when you’re responsible for typing the captions for BBC News, especially when it’s covering a change in government as it happens. So I think it’s forgivable that the second ‘i’ of the word “minister” is missing (it was quickly corrected).

Droplet on blue

Sometimes photographs have to be created, others create themselves. I noticed a droplet of water resting on the surface of this blue ironing board cover, but by the time I’d taken a photograph it had mostly soaked away. So I simply made a new droplet and used that one instead.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York

This photograph of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York was taken by resting the camera on the edge of a pew and using the self-timer. The almost-unavoidable converging lines were sorted out on the computer.

Reading room, New York Public Library

The Rose Main Reading Room in the New York Public Library is 23 metres wide and 90 metres long. For the photograph, I tried to make sure that the windows and lights weren’t too bright. This meant that the ceiling was too dark, but a little image editing helped to sort that out.

Apple iPad

According to Apple’s web site, the iPad is a “magical and revolutionary product”. It’s not a mobile phone, laptop or netbook; it’s a tablet computer. But I’m not sure I’d buy one.

I took this photograph in the Apple Store Fifth Avenue in New York. It’s only shop that I’ve been to where the entrance is above ground and the shop is underground.
